Faced with growing water scarcity challenges, TAQA Morocco is investing in sustainable seawater desalination and water transfer solutions powered by renewable energy. These projects aim to support the Kingdom’s drinking water and industrial needs while strengthening national water security.
Desalination
In partnership with Nareva and the Mohammed VI Fund for Investment, TAQA Morocco is developing five large-scale desalination plants, adding nearly 900 million m³ of desalinated water per year, supported by approximately 600 MW of renewable energy capacity.
This integrated water–energy approach ensures long-term, efficient, and climate-aligned operations.
The facilities will be located in strategic coastal areas to secure water supply for regions facing significant hydric stress. The projects rely on proven technologies and strong industrial capabilities, leveraging TAQA Morocco’s experience in managing complex, high-performance infrastructure.
Water Transfer
Alongside desalination, TAQA Morocco, in partnership with Nareva and the Mohammed VI Fund for Investment, is developing a major water transfer infrastructure with an annual capacity of 800 million m³, supported by 200 MW of renewable energy.
By placing innovation at the service of sustainability, TAQA Morocco is actively contributing to the development of a resilient national water model, creating long-term value for communities, territories, and the Kingdom’s economic development.
